There are about 150 “Elegy to the Spanish Republic”. Elegy is ‘mourning for something dead that ought to be remembered’. I admit it looks to me like cocks and balls. But the fact he did so many of these theme paintings means that he perhaps didn’t succeed. I placed Neeva’s face looking downcast to complete my version of the “Elegy”.
