#280 The Crazy Family
2003–2004, oil on canvas, 32" x 48"

This very posed image was taken when the girls were just three years old. My life consisted of being a housebound mom. It was not enough. Looking at this image of my family I did my first large scale drawing with prismacolours on 27" x 38" paper. I was liberated. This drawing stayed in my mind while I took family snapshots of the girls. My attempt to do drawings of them continued when they were four. Asked to sit on the loveseat, calmly, they did everything but. So my series of my girls ended with them acting up every time I asked them to pose. My reward is that I still have all these strange images, which I am sure to use in the future - portrait of a housebound mother.
