My own wedding was a very private event. Embarrassed to be getting married after eleven years of being a couple, it seemed silly, to formalize our union. I didn’t need it. This couple also had their children first and decided to celebrate their togetherness. It was a joyous occasion. The son asked his mom “Why are you painting your own sign?” Then you realize how strange it all is. Your relationship is probably still a mystery. Why does it work? Why do so many people fail? Every day I marvel at it, that two people can continue to grow old together, with joy.
