After seeing the Barnes collection of many female nudes at the Ontario Art Gallery - bare naked ladies everywhere - I’ve decided to paint bare naked males, a passion since the beginning of my career. This is the first of many. Like Matisse, using magazine pictures as the basis for his sculptures, I am using magazine images for my centerfolds. This one, pressing his penis to make it look larger, reminded me of Japanese erotica where the penis can be half the size of the body. The Japanese fabric suggests this humorous reference.
