#341 ALBERTA LEGISLATURE
2009 . oil on canvas . 18" x 24"
Avenues have been made into freeways. Wonderful places in the city, like the Alberta Legislature, our capital asset, have been belittled by our over-the-top response to traffic planning. Not only are the streets unbelievably wide, but they are severely cluttered with signs. It is far worse than I have depicted because I re-organized the view of the Legislature from 98 Avenue to suit my aesthetic preferences. I wanted to focus on not only the street and vehicles, but also the questionable buildings that frame the view. My paintings are not absolutely realistic depictions of the urban landscape.
