Coming from Holland, I retain an affinity for the art of the Northern European Renaissance, a tradition of painterly story-telling, whether it be portraits, landscapes or still-lifes. At the same time the paintings are becoming more about the application of the paint and the use of colour, and less about what they represent, although the images remain important.
